Allegany County 911
Tried to open my eyes; I tried in vain.
Then a soft voice whispered in my ear,
"Come with me son, and have no fear."
I see the tears streaming down your faces,
Flags at half-mast, and friends in embraces.
I see all the people, I hear the bagpipes,
And on your badges, the thin black stripes.
"In the line of duty" I hear them say,
Now my loving family the price to pay.
My folded flag stained with their tears,
all we had were those few short years.
It's hard to leave you and all I've known,
But my work here is done; the Lord called me
home. When you think of me, think good
thoughts, It's okay to talk to me and miss me
lots. Hold tight to your memories of the man
you knew, Your faith in those memories will
help see you through. And if you ever need me,
close your eyes and you'll see, I'm here in your
heart, and alive in your memory. The badge no
longer on my chest, I sleep now in eternal rest.
My sword I pass to those behind,
and pray they keep this thought in mind...
I never dreamed it would be me, and on my
heavy heart and bended knee, I ask for all
those here from the past, Dear God, let my
name be the last.
