Memorial -- Thank you to the men and women who serve.

On November 15, 2003, the Allegany County
Firefighters Memorial, located on the front
lawn of the court house in Belmont, New York
was dedicated to the volunteer Fire and EMS
personnel of the past, present, future and to
their respecive families.
The first goal was to design and construct a
memorial to honor the proud heritage of our
volunteer emergency personnel in Allegnay
County. The second goal was to start a
scholarship to assist volunteer emergency
personnel or their children who wish to attend
college.
The memorial remembering our county
volunteer emergency personnel, who everyday
face the dangers when called upon to help
others in their time of need, was
accomplished by the hard work of Fire
Advisory Board members and funded by
donations from the public.

A grateful Nation honors its fallen fire service
heroes at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial
located on the campus of the National Fire
Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
Work is underway to expand the monument site to
create the first permanent National Memorial Park
honoring America's fire service. A brick Walk of
Honor winds through the Park, linking the national
monument to the historic Fallen Firefighters
Memorial Chapel.
You can help make this park a reality by sponsoring
bricks on the Walk of Honor.
Thousands of inscribed bricks bear names of
individuals, departments and organizations. Others
contain short messages chosen by their sponsors.
Several fire departments and organizations have
donated sections to honor their members or
remember fallen firefighters who made the ultimate
sacrifice. A special FDNY section will honor all its
fallen heroes, including those who died on
September 11, 2001.
