About Our Dispatch Center
The Allegany County 911 Dispatch Center faithfully serves approximately 50,000 citizens of this
1,030 square mile, Western-Southern-Tier county of New York State, and is under the direction
of the Allegany County Sheriff's Office with cooperation of the Allegany County Fire Service,
and Office of Emergency Services. We are the primary dispatch center for 27 Fire Companies,
15 Ambulance Services, several EMS Response Teams, and 9 Police Agencies, as well as the
Allegany County Fire Investigation Team, the County Fire  and District Fire Coordinators, the
Allegany County Office of Emergency Services (OES/Civil Defense), and the County A.L.E.R.T.
Team (Allegany Law Enforcement Response Team / SWAT). We are also able to dispatch for the
New York State Police, New York State Environmental Conservation Police, Allegany County
department of Public Works, and the Village and Town Highway departments throughout the
county.

The Allegany County 911center broadcasts over and monitors more than 17 different radio
frequencies consisting of 1 Primary and 6 Secondary Fire frequencies, an "inter-county" Fire
frequency, 2 Primary Local Police frequencies, multiple Police Repeaters, the Allegany County
Sheriff frequency, a New York State-wide "inter-agency" Police frequency, as well as one
frequency each for OES/Civil Defense, the County Department of Public Works, Town Highway
and other miscellaneous frequencies.

The Allegany County 911 Dispatch Center is the primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP)
in Allegany County and answers all 911 calls, with the exception of those from the Village and
Town of Wellsville. 911 Calls from the Village and Town of Wellsville are routed around to the
county's manned secondary PSAP which is housed in the Wellsville Police Department. All
cellular and VoIP 911 phone calls are answered at Allegany County's  primary PSAP. The center,
being the county's primary PSAP, stands ready to take over 911call taking duties of the
secondary PSAP in Wellsville in the event of overflow or failure of the 911 system there. (The
Wellsville PSAP is primarily responsible for dispatching the Wellsville Ambulance, the
Wellsville Fire Department and the Wellsville and Willing Police Departments, also echoing the
dispatch of the Willing Fire Department.) In the event of overflow or system failure at the
primary PSAP, Allegany County maintains a standby back-up center that has the full capabilities
of the primary PSAP and can function as another secondary PSAP if the need arises.

The Allegany County PSAP is operated by 6 full-time and 8 - 14 part-time dispatchers whose
training and experience ensure absolute professionalism and diligence every time a call for
help is made.
